Case Study: Amazon Upfronts

Sometimes your event is one day and sometimes you have an event spread out on various days for several weeks or months. For some experiential events, particularly Upfronts, where major networks and streamers showcase their upcoming programming to the press, buyers, and affiliates, event cleaning is like having a short term commercial contract as you need to make sure the space is clean daily both pre and post event.

For the Amazon Upfronts in Los Angeles, PopUP CleanUP provided general cleaning of space, including floors, restrooms, surface wiping and disinfection, and trash management over the course of two months at Citizen News. We tended to the premises pre and post event (before and after guests arrived) over the course of fourteen or fifteen days spread out over two months time with most shifts spanning our minimum four hour requirement. We were especially attentive to entryways, doorknobs (which are high-touch disinfection points), and the risers/carpet where the press sat. For events in the entertainment and fashion world, appearances are of the upmost importance.

In our experience, upfronts tend to be more fluid in scheduling than some other events which requires a lot of last minute changes both adding and subtracting cleaning shifts. Normally, we implement a last minute late booking fee, but for prolonged events like this one, we tend to follow more of a commercial cleaning approach. That said, it’s important when booking your event that you understand that we don’t operate like a taxi cab company. Cleaners aren’t sitting around waiting to be dispatched and sometimes last minute changes are impossible to staff.
