Vegan Holiday Recipes

As a follow up to our Fourth of July Vegan BBQ blitz, we are entertaining you today with some ideas and resources for environmentally friendly, plant-based, but still deliciously decadent holiday meals to entertain family and friends.

The cookbook Vegan Christmas by Gaz Oakley with vegan holiday recipes

Hailing from Great Britain, Gaz Oakley has branded himself as the avant-garde vegan, and he most definitely is with three cookbooks, including Vegan Christmas, which is devoted entirely to meals for, yes, you guessed it, Christmas, a robust YouTube channel with over one million followers and ample how-to videos, and a website where you can find some of his recipes for Christmas Carmelized Chestnut Panna Cotta, Jerk Cauliflower Wellington, and Parsnip and Vanilla Soup if you’re not sure you want to dive in and buy the book.

Love and Lemons is a food blog (and she has a cookbook) where you can find variations on all your favorites like sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, cranberry sauce, and stuffing, to new idea like Mushroom and White Bean Pot Pie and Quinoa, Apple & Sage Stuffed Acorn Squash.

Famed chef Jamie Oliver, also known as The Naked Chef, has devoted part of his website to a catalogue of casual but gourmet-looking plant-based recipes including Baby Artichoke Bruschetta, Mixed Mushroom Stuffing, Roasted Root Vegetables, and Grilled Cauliflower with Winter Pesto.

If health and flavor are a priority, Forks Over Knives not only offers an online course to help folks transition to a plant based lifestyle, but also offers recipes that are not just vegan but also oil and sugar free. Perfect for those worried about heart health or any kind of inflammation, Forks Over Knives founder Brian Wendel has also created four recipe books, a film, and an app to make the transition easy for those who, like he once did, are hooked on the Standard American Diet of pizza and roast beef.

Happy Vegan Christmas by Karoline Jonsson
